How to Report Abusive Accounts on Instagram for Cyberbullying

While Instagram’s purpose is for sharing content, unfortunately it is not immune to trolling behavior, such as users imitating or harassing others on the site. Instagram offers a few ways to deal with cyber bullying on its app.

You can report inappropriate posts, comments or people that aren’t following Instagram’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Use right when you see them by using Instagram’s built-in reporting features.

Report Comments

If you see comments that aren’t following Instagram’s Community Guidelines, you can report them. To report a comment:

  1. Tap  below the post
  2. Swipe left over the comment (iPhone) or tap and hold the comment (Android) you’d like to report
  3. Tap 
  4. Tap Spam or Scam or Abusive Content
  5. Select an option for why the comment is abusive

Enter the reason for reporting the comment.

Report Users

If you see users that aren’t following Instagram’s Community Guidelines, you can report them as well. To report a user:

  1. Go to the user’s profile and click next to their username
  2. Select Report User

Block users from their individual profile pages.

Can Users See that I reported Them?

When you report an inappropriate comment, your report is anonymous, meaning your information is never shared with the person whose posted the comment.

Remember to Remove Offensive Content

If someone leaves an inappropriate comment on your post, you can delete it.
